Christian

So we are gathered here today in the presence of God and of these witnesses, to join (Groom) and (Bride) in matrimony, which is honorable among all men; and therefore –is not by any- to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly – but reverently, discreetly and solemnly.  Into this holy estate these two people present now come to be joined.  If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together –let them speak now or forever hold their peace.

Who gives this woman to be married?  (If father is giving away)

(Groom), will you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love her, comfort her, honor her and keep her, forsaking all others for as long as you both shall live?

(Answer: I do)

(Bride), will you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love him, comfort him, honor him and keep him, forsaking all others for as long as you both shall live?

(Answer: I do)

(Take the rings)

Repeat after me:

I, (Groom), take you, (Bride), to be my wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part. (Put the ring on her finger and say):  With this ring, I thee wed.

I, (Bride), take you, (Groom), to be my husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.  (Put the ring on his finger and say):  With this ring, I thee wed.

Let these rings be given as a symbol of your love and commitment to one another.  And just as these circles are without end, let your love be eternal.

Sample Unity Sand Sayings

_______________ and ______________, today you join your separate lives together. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are and all that you'll ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

"___and___, (and Children's names): As you each hold your sand, the sand represents your lives to this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together, your lives also join together as one family. The children will also share in this marriage. The gathering of this new family will have a deep influence upon them. They realize that in order for the home to be a happy one, it is essential that there be love and understanding between the children and the adults being married. "

"You may now blend the sand together symbolizing the uniting of the children and bride and groom into one family"
